Connery's Show Photos

There are always pro photographers on hand to take pictures of the dogs who do well in the breed ring. Connery has a modest (so-modest!) collection started. And we're adding rally photos to the bottom, because they're just as formal (and I don't expect to get many of them taken, but for those special occasions...)

(Eight months old)
This is from our first show together, although Connery had previously been in the ring with other, more experienced handlers at the leash while I ran agility elsewhere on the show grounds. At this show he took first in his Puppy Sweeps class. This is far from earning actual points for his championship, which he didn't do on that day. But since it was my first show ever and he took first in his class, I wanted the keepsake.

First in Class at Sweeps

(Ten months old)
This photo celebrates a much bigger accomplishment. Connery hitched a ride to the California Beagle Specialty Show while I watched over the homefront and darned if he didn't earn his first five points with Winner's Dog, and then went on to take Best of Winners.

Those were fun phone calls.

BOW at the CA Specialty

(Two years old)
Another biggie! Connery didn't have to go far for this one--our local yearly show. He took his second major (and another 4 points) at the Flagstaff Kennel Club show. He was handled by Jennifer Roberson of Cheysuli Kennels, but I snuck into the win photo. So here we are, and then below is his glamour close-up because I couldn't resist. (He could have been stacked better in front, but I think the photographer was glad to get this much out of me...)

Connery's second major

(Two and a half years, Fall '06)
Connery went to the Phoenix Kachina show in October and finished his breed championship in style--two back-to-back majors, for a total of 17 points. If I'd known he'd finish on Sunday, I'd have had a Saturday photo taken also, but who guessed the boy would finish with all majors and such style? Sunday, as it happens (and was left out of this photo), he also took Best of Winners.

Huzzahs to Ch. Cedar Ridge DoubleOSeven, handled in these final two shows by Jennifer Roberson of Cheysuli Kennel!

New Champion

(Fall 06)
With Connery's breed championship accomplished, I have a little more leeway with his rally opportunities. He and Belle went to their second rally trial, and each earned their third leg in a row for their novice titles. Connery placed third over Belle's fourth by the virtue of tying her score and then being a 10th of a second faster. Well, it's all in the family!

And we got a photo to commemorate the double titling day. We're not used to such things--they don't have them in agility. So here we are, all quite pleased with ourselves and each other. Connery has his Rally Excellent now and Belle is close behind (delayed by injury), but we only took a photo for this special double day!

Belle and Connery, Rally Novice titles

And here Connery earned his Novice Obedience CD, with a first place ribbon; as a whole, he earned the title with a red and two blues, and another blue for his bonus leg.
