Agility Trial Photos

Prescott AZ, May '03 (NADAC)

In a gorgeous little park in the middle of Prescott, Belle tackled her first NADAC Open courses with her usual enthusiasm, coming just short of earning out her Open Standard in one fell swoop. Jean-Luc managed a startling weekend of four clean runs to finish out his NADAC Novice Standard and Jumpers titles, exceeding every expectation I had for him when I started him in agility as behavioral therapy for his ongoing brain injury recovery. A photographer on the scene caught both of them in enthusiastic flight.

Here's Belle in full whooosh. I love this photo even though it's a little blurry--actually, because it's a little blurry. This photographer picks her spot and pre-sets her camera at the right speed and aperture to capture dogs going over this fence--but Belle is blurry because she was faster than the camera speed that captured most of the other dogs in this spot.

Evidence of Jean-Luc's unexpected new enthusiasm over jumps, this time running the course to finish his NADAC Novice Standard title.

Because of Jean-Luc's developing fondness for jumpers courses and his continuing wariness of unfamiliar contact obstacles, now that he has both AKC and NADAC novice titles, he'll stick to jumpers courses--giving him the chance to maintain the therapy that's done so much for him without the stress of contact obstacles. Training on these obstacles has done him a world of good, but now it's time to develop his joy and confidence in competition.
