Agility Trial Photos

Phoenix AZ, January '04 (AKC Fiesta Cluster)

Belle finished off her AKC Excellent title with another first place, and then polished off her Open jumpers; the next day in her first Excellent jumpers run, she took High Score in Class. Jean-Luc cheerfully ran the Open jumpers courses and at the end of the weekend, picked up his first qualifying leg with enough enthusiasm to offer up the image below...

(And here on top are two new images, both from Pup Art, that were sitting around in hardcopy for a while before I scanned them...)

Belle on the A-Frame, calculating the look of the down-side.

And here's the teeter, as she slows for the tipping point. She's just so darned cute!

The first jump of this course. I love the way she's got her front feet tucked up--she looks like a tidy little equine jumper! The wings on this jump are for more than decoration--they change the handling options and a careless step can send the dog off course.

Jean-Luc: leaps tall buildings in a single bound! The triple is the biggest jump the dogs face, and is a wide, imposing obstacle. I never expected to see Jean-Luc soar over with air to spare!

And here's a final one of Belle zooming through the chute. The chute is a blind obstacle--the dog comes roaring out with no idea what might be next. How things go from that moment depend on the teamwork, or lack thereof. In this case, the table is at a 90 degree angle from the chute, and a significant number of dogs zipped out to turn circles, uncertain of their direction. But here comes Belle, charging along with purpose and already turning for the table. I love this photo!
