Northern Arizona Book Fair '04

On a blustery day in mid-April, the Northern Arizona fantasy writing contingent--Jennifer Roberson, Melanie Rawn, and Yrs Trly--headed out to the book fair for readings and Q&A. This was, it should be said, my first reading--because I'm a great big girly-chicken and the mere thought of reading my work out loud causes me to stop breathing. However, since there were to be the three of us--two of whom are excellent readers--I got terribly brave and agreed to do it.

Here were are in introduction. These photos were taken in challenging circumstances; all the light in the room was focused on the lectern for a "spotlight in eyes" approach; the audience was a dark mass of can't see you. I still haven't decided if that was a good thing or a bad thing. (See, we all brought books!)

Book Fair intro

Melanie reads with great charm.

My turn! Look close...you'll see I've indeed stopped breathing.

My audience listens...uh...attentively--?

snoozing

Jennifer takes a turn.

The Q&A. I don't remember what I'm saying, but I'm sure it's wise.

q-a, me

Really! It's wise! Don't pay any attention to Melanie's reaction.

Mel

Look! I spy an exit...and head for escape!

escape!

Nah, just kidding--I was just ducking that spotlight. We finished up the Q&A, gave away books, did a little impromptu signing, and departed in good style. Happy authors!
